Churches Host Exploration of Christian Spirituality

On Sunday, September 11, 2016, the churches of the Southern Cayuga Wider Parish will host “Avenues to Christian Spirituality: An Intergenerational and Family Day of Exploration.”  This event, held from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the United Ministry of Aurora, invites participants to experience some of the many ways of prayer, meditation, and closeness to God practiced by Christians of different traditions.

The experiences offered to guests of all ages include: walking the stone labyrinth as a way to focus personal prayer and meditation; joining in the songs, prayer and silence of a short Taizé worship service; creating religious art through rubbings; engaging with prayer through self-examination and spiritual poetry; and expressing worship through liturgical dance.

Guides from the Wider Parish churches will be on hand to welcome and assist guests.  The activities continue throughout the time so that guests may come and go at will. The United Ministry is located at 337 Main St., Aurora. For more information please call (315)246-1130.
